How it works

How acupuncture care works at Seven Medicine

Acupuncture often builds over time. Here's how a plan is recommended, how we check whether it's helping, and how it changes as you respond.

Is this one visit or a process?

Acupuncture often builds over time

Many first-time patients expect one appointment. More often, acupuncture works cumulatively — each visit builds on the last.

Your presentation shapes the plan: how often you come, roughly how many visits, which treatment tools are used, when we reassess, and when visits may become less frequent.

Some acute concerns may respond faster, while longstanding or more complex concerns may require a longer course of consistent care. There is no single number of visits that fits everyone.

Treatment plans are recommendations, not guarantees — and they change based on how you respond.

How often? An example

Illustrative example
  1. Initial phase

    2× per week

    ≈ 8 visits in a month

  2. Step-down phase

    1× per week

    ≈ 4 visits in a month

  3. Maintenance (when appropriate)

    2× per month or monthly

    ≈ 2 visits in a month

Frequency varies by patient and condition. This is not a required schedule — Dr. Kristina recommends a starting frequency and adjusts it as you respond.

What happens over time

  1. 1StartWe understand the problem and establish a baseline — your history, symptoms and an AcuGraph scan.
  2. 2BuildVisits are more frequent at first while we learn how your body responds.
  3. 3ReassessWe review your symptoms and may repeat the AcuGraph scan — often about a month in.
  4. 4AdjustIf you're improving faster or slower than expected, the plan changes.
  5. 5MaintainSome patients move to less frequent visits when appropriate. Maintenance is optional, not required forever.

Progress isn’t always perfectly linear. We reassess based on how long relief lasts, what symptoms remain, and how your overall pattern changes. An acute problem may sometimes need a shorter course of care. If symptoms resolve faster than expected, the plan is adjusted.

Illustrative example only — not actual patient data or a predicted outcome. Treatment plans are recommendations, not guarantees, and change based on your response.

Patient story · Acute pain

Neck and shoulder pain that was affecting sleep

Where they started
A patient came in with neck and shoulder pain they rated about 8 out of 10. It hurt to move, and it was waking them at night.
The plan
Dr. Kristina recommended a short initial course of closely spaced visits, with a check-in on how long relief lasted after each one.
Over time
The pain eased faster than expected, so the plan was shortened and the remaining visits were spaced further apart instead of continuing on a fixed schedule.

Acute problems can sometimes need a shorter course of care — and the plan changes when you respond faster.

Patient story · Longer-standing, whole-body concerns

Sleep, night sweats, fatigue and cycle changes — all at once

Where they started
A patient came in with several symptoms that had built up over a long time: disrupted sleep, night sweats, fatigue, stress and changes in their cycle.
The plan
Dr. Kristina recommended more consistent visits at the start, individualized food and lifestyle suggestions, and a reassessment after about the first month — alongside the patient's medical care.
Over time
Progress came gradually and wasn't a straight line. As sleep and the other symptoms settled, visits were spaced further apart.

When several longstanding symptoms overlap, care is often more consistent at first, then reduced as things improve.

Individual results vary. These stories describe individual patients and are not typical or guaranteed outcomes.

How do we know if it's working?

We check, rather than guess

  • Your symptoms — how strong, how often, and how long relief lasts
  • Sleep, energy, stress, digestion and cycles — the whole pattern
  • A repeat AcuGraph scan around the first formal reassessment, often about a month in
  • Your goals — and a plan that changes if progress is faster or slower than expected
